VIDEO: Man seriously injured by boat propeller in Costa Adeje
A 32-year-old man is in a critical condition after suffering serious injuries from a boat propeller in El Puertito de Adeje in the south of Tenerife yesterday afternoon (Saturday).
The Canary Islands Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (CECOES) received an alert at 4:45pm, requesting urgent medical assistance for a man being brought ashore by boat after the accident.
The coordinating doctor from the 112 control room instructed those at the scene over the phone, on how to perform first aid while medical teams were en route.
Due to the severity of the man’s injuries, a helicopter was dispatched to transfer the man to the Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria University Hospital in Santa Cruz.
Local Police, Guardia Civil, and National Police officers secured a landing zone for the helicopter in Puerto Colón and provided assistance throughout the operation.
Authorities have described the man’s condition as extremely serious, and an investigation has been opened into the cause of the accident.
