Authorities have confirmed that a young man who went missing at sea on Saturday while riding a jet ski between Tenerife and La Gomera has been found safe and brought ashore, following an extensive overnight search involving air and sea rescue teams.
Maritime Rescue, the Guardia Civil, and the Canary Islands Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) coordinated the large-scale operation, which ended successfully on Sunday morning when a private boat spotted the missing man at sea. He was taken to the port of Los Gigantes, where medical personnel were waiting to assist him.
The alarm was raised at around 9:00pm on Saturday after the man failed to return from an outing with friends on several jet skis. He had last been seen at approximately 5:30pm.
Search teams continued operations through the night, with the Sasemar 103 rescue helicopter joining the effort at dawn alongside several patrol boats from Maritime Rescue and the Guardia Civil.
At around 10:20am on Sunday, rescuers received word that a private boat had spotted a person on a jet ski near Tenerife and had brought him safely to shore.
The young man was reported to be in good condition and is now safe on land, according to Maritime Rescue.
