The Arona Town Council has begun rolling out a major resurfacing project worth over €2.2 million, aiming to renew more than 100,000 square metres of road across several parts of the municipality.
According to the Department of Works and Infrastructure, the project covers more than twenty streets in key areas such as Playa de las Américas, Los Cristianos, Costa del Silencio, El Fraile, Guargacho, and Las Rosas.
Currently, work is underway on Avenida de Suecia, Calle Ramón Pino, Paseo Cornisa, Calle Otero, and Calle Barroso in Los Cristianos and El Fraile. The council confirmed that they will soon begin on other important streets identified as priorities in the plan.
Mayor Fátima Lemes Reverón stated that this programme “reflects responsible planning and a commitment to act throughout the current term to keep our streets in the best possible condition for safety and mobility.”
Meanwhile, Councillor for Works Héctor Reyes highlighted that the main goal is to “improve road safety and renew the pavement in areas showing the most wear, enhancing the quality of life for our residents.”
The Works Department added that new projects are already scheduled for additional neighbourhoods as part of a wider plan to reach all parts of Arona. The resurfacing is being carried out in phases to minimise disruption.
