A six-year-old boy is in a critical condition after falling from the second floor of a building in the south of Tenerife. The incident happened on Tuesday in the coastal area of Guía de Isora. According to initial reports, the child is believed to have been walking along the outside of a corridor railing when he lost his balance and fell into an interior courtyard.

The accident took place in a residential building in the town of Playa San Juan. The boy sustained several serious injuries in the fall, the most critical being a severe head trauma.

Due to the seriousness of his condition, the child was taken directly to the emergency department at Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, where he underwent surgery later that same day.

Authorities have opened an investigation to clarify the exact circumstances of the incident.

This is not the first time an incident like this has happened in Tenerife. In July, a ten-year-old boy suffered serious head and abdominal injuries after falling from a balcony in the south of the island.

Just weeks later, a two-year-old toddler fell from the third floor of a residential building, causing widespread concern in the local community. Around the same time, a seven-year-old child also fell from a second floor, suffering multiple injuries.
