Man dies after falling through a hole in airport car park
A 53-year-old man has died after falling through a gap inside the car park at Gran Canaria Airport this morning (Wednesday). The emergency services were alerted shortly after the incident, which occurred in one of the structural areas of the multi-storey parking facility.
For reasons still under investigation, the man fell from a height and died at the scene.
The exact circumstances of the fall remain unclear. Investigators are considering whether it was an accident, an intentional act, or possibly linked to a structural failure within the car park. CCTV footage and witness statements are being reviewed to help establish what happened.
Police officers secured the scene and carried out the necessary procedures until authorities authorised the removal of the body. Local Police from Telde also attended to support the operation and ensure safety around the affected area.
The incident caused shock among airport staff and passengers, but airport operations continued as normal while the investigation progressed.
Authorities have not released the man’s identity, pending notification of his family.
