Mercadona has expanded the dining space of its Listo para Comer (Ready to Eat) section in its busy Puerto del Carmen branch in Lanzarote, inside the Soco Shopping Centre.

The extended rest area now includes seven tables with a total of 40 chairs, allowing more customers to sit down and enjoy freshly prepared meals on site, rather than taking them away.

The redesign also features a table adapted for people with reduced mobility, ensuring the area is more accessible and inclusive.

The Listo para Comer section offers a wide variety of prepared dishes, many of them traditional and “home-style,” including croquettes, Russian salad, and other hot and cold options such as rice dishes, pasta, burgers, and sandwiches.

In addition, Mercadona has pointed out that much of the food is served in packaging made from natural and compostable materials, such as sugarcane fibre, cardboard, and paper, part of the company’s commitment to sustainability.

Beyond the ready-to-eat area, this Puerto del Carmen store also provides other popular services, such as fresh milk and chilled juices, a charcuterie counter with ham sliced to order and pre-packed, freshly squeezed orange juice, a sushi counter, and an in-store bakery.

The update makes the Lanzarote supermarket one of the most complete in the chain, catering not only to local residents but also to the large number of visitors staying in and around Puerto del Carmen.

Other Mercadona branches in the Canary Islands also feature the Listo para Comer section, including Santa Úrsula (Tenerife), San Cristóbal de La Laguna (Tenerife), Las Chafiras (Tenerife), and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
