An 80-year-old man has been injured after being hit by a car on Calle Igara, in Cabo Blanco, Tenerife. According to the Canary Islands’ Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (CECOES) 1-1-2, the incident occurred just before 9 am this morning (Friday), when the emergency services were alerted to a pedestrian being knocked down by a vehicle.
Paramedics attended the roadside and treated the man, who had sustained a moderate head injury. He was later transferred by ambulance to hospital for further care.
Local police officers also arrived and carried out the necessary investigations into the circumstances of the accident.
This unfortunate incident adds to a worrying trend of road accidents involving vulnerable road users in the south of Tenerife. Earlier this month, a 27-year-old motorcyclist died in Guía de Isora after a crash on Avenida de la Constitución.
In another case, young children aged 4 and 14 were involved in separate traffic incidents, sustaining head and hip trauma, respectively.
These events highlight a growing concern over road safety in the region, particularly for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorbike users.
